-XScapade ’08 – All Access Prayer Wave TWO-

Some Updates and Thanksgiving:

The committee would like to thank God for providing us with a camp site as well as for the many youths (65 at last count) who have signed up for the camp! As it stands, publicity waves 1 and 2 have been completed and 3 is coming up in about 2 weeks time. The worship leaders have been confirmed and schedules for the worship practices and teams are currently being planned out. Drafts for the games and finale are also out as well.

Even though the planning for the camp is a little behind schedule right now, we believe that everything will still make it in time despite the many external commitments (work, exams) that are piling up and which require our attention as well. It is that time of the year again, with the final year exams (O Levels, A Levels, Uni exams) happening in November and December, but we have a God who will see us through all circumstances and whose faithfulness and love endures forever!

Do pray that efforts to invite our pre-believer friends will be fruitful and that God will make a way for them to attend the camp. Do pray for the committee and for the camp itself, that God will be at the centre of all that we do and we will not lose sight of our purposes in planning and coming for the camp, and most importantly of all, that all glory be unto God alone! We hope for the church to support us as we co-labour for this camp; and should any of the committee members approach you to help out in the camp, do prayerfully consider it as well! Thank you!

~ Prayer & Worship Comm
on behalf of XScapade 08 – All Access Committee

Below are some specific prayer requests which you can pray for:

Daryl Goh (Camp Coordinator):
- For more youths to sign up and that the camp would be fun and enjoyable for all.

Keith Oh (Camp Commandant):
- To be focused on the task at hand and not be distracted; as well as to be able to manage all the commitments (school, church, cell etc.) with God as the guide.

Evangelism & Follow-Up (EFU) Comm [Ezra (IC), Ying En and Robin (2ICs)]
- For inspiration to plan and prepare the skit.

Logistics Comm [Jeremy Pan (IC), Albert Ng (2IC)]
- That there will be sufficient helpers, especially as the camp date draws nearer, and for them to be able to commit throughout the camp.
- Pray for Jeremy that he may still be able to come to church on Sundays, as his work commitments over the next 2 to 3 months requires him to be there 7 days a week. Pray for strength and sufficient periods of rest in between as well.

Treasurers [Michelle (IC), Rhoda (2IC)]:
- Pray that every camper will feel included at all times and that Christians will be able to demonstrate the love of God boldly towards all.
- Pray also for good handling and management of the funds for the youth camp.

Finale Comm [Gerald (IC)]:
- Exams are nearing, especially for sub-comm members (A levels)

Secretaries [Christelle (IC), Yifang (2IC)]:
- Work and school getting busier, pray for good management to handle all the commitments.
- Pray for wisdom as they prepare the camp booklet.

Games Comm [Dennis (IC)]:
- Requests prayer that he will be able to handle the youth camp games and for his school work as he has a lot of projects and reports coming up and his exams will be just before the youth camp week. Also pray for good management of finances.

-Testimony - Charissa-

My experience in XScapade '06 was awesome! Till now there’s a phrase that has always remained in my heart, it’s "Dead to sin, alive in Christ, as a child of Christ, I’m born to set apart for God!"

That may sound like a simple cheesy phrase that is not a big deal but it’s something precious that remains deep in me. As it reminds me that every sins that I have committed in the past does not exist in the eyes of God as a child of God is not perfect but forgiven. A child of God is precious in his eyes and in his eyes, I’m perfect and flawless. I know that I’m not perfect in ways of being popular with my friends or scoring straight As for academic results but I know I satisfy Him and He satisfies me too.

Being a privileged child set apart for God is a tremendous blessing as I am able to stand and represent Christ and in life. I know that my goal is to thrive for excellence to honor Christ and to bring forth myself to others with the character of God, the beauty of his unconditional love and grace is always in me to touch other people lives.

Participating in activities with strangers and some fellow school mates were thrilling. There were moments of awkwardness but I still enjoyed the whole camp. I learnt to socialize more with others and everybody in the camp and my group "storm" were so friendly and surprisingly extremely enthusiastic. Especially Persie, Mariko, Jonathan, Nathalie ,Kelly ,Kathleen and Charmaine! They never gave up trying to talk to me and make me open up more as I barely spoke. Till the last few days we had group discussion , I managed to share more and learn more about Christ. I made new friends and got close to people I were distant to.I was glad to make new friends and learn more about the goodness of God.

The pastor who preached was awesome! I was so excited to learn more about God’s love and goodness every time we gathered to share the gospel and sing praises. There was once Nathalie prayed over some of the girls in the group and I broke down. I felt really relieved as it was long since I felt that peace in my heart. I definitely did not regret attending the camp and I definitely love the little letter booth where people chuck letters into individual letter slots, encouraging one another. Till now, I kept the little letters in a little tin and reading it occasionally makes me yearn to go back to the camp and meet those friends who made an impact on my life.
